It varies depending on the amount of work that needs to be done. Replacing a few panels of chain wire fencing can take as little as an hour or two – however, a larger more complex repair involving posts, rails, barbed wire, etc can take several days.

Chain link fencing is a specialised field and requires unique tools. It is always best to get a fencing contractor in who specialises in chain mesh to achieve the best results.

If your chain link fence is damaged, it is much more cost effective to repair the damaged parts than to replace the whole thing. Chain link repairs are fast, cost effective and give secure results.

If you have a damaged section of chain wire fencing where a few links have been either cut or bent out of place, our team will remove that section of chain wire fencing, weave in new panels and retension the chain wire and straining cables. We will also perform inspections on your existing posts to ensure they are able to withstand the new pressure from the repaired fence and consult you if further repairs are required.

Unfortunately, we are chain wire fencing specialists and our repair services cater to:

  • Chain Wire / Chainwire Fencing Repairs
  • Chain Mesh / Chainmesh Fencing Repairs
  • Chain Link / Chainlink Fencing Repairs
  • Cyclone Fencing Repairs
  • Security Fencing Repairs
If your fence finish is a galvanised (silver) finish – matching the existing fence is as easy as matching the wire height, mesh size, and wire diameter – the replaced section may just look a little ‘newer’ than the rest. If your finish is PVC coated (a black or green finish), we will be able to do your fence repair with the same chain wire; however, the repaired section may seem more vibrant than the other sections of fencing which may make you think it is a different color. PVC coated chain wire is an extremely resilient fencing option however may fade over many years due to sun exposure.

We are able to repair all parts of a chain wire fence, including:

  • Chain links
  • Posts
  • Post footings
  • Rails
  • Straining cable
  • Barbed wire
  • Flanges
  • Fittings
  • Hinges
  • Gates

Not always, if you are able to provide enough information and pictures – we may be able to provide a quote without a site inspection.

Please visit our Chain Wire Fencing page to learn about the different types of fencing options available or give our team a call to arrange a site inspection.

Generally no, we will always strive to keep the cost down as low as possible and try to repair only what is necessary. However, sometimes damage to chain link fencing and posts cannot be fixed and needs replacing –  we will always communicate with you and let you know exactly what is going on before we start working on your fence.

If the post that supports your chain mesh fencing is damaged, we will need to perform a repair. We may only need to restraighten the post, however if the post is past the point where reuse is possible, we will need to remove and replace it with new.

If your fence is only slightly damaged and your chain link is still in good condition, reusing your existing chain wire is an excellent option. It will need to be carefully removed from posts and rails, rolled and repaired where necessary before reinstallation.

Quite often, if a straining cable has not been installed with your chain link fence, the bottom will become bent and out of shape. This is most common in residential settings from dogs escaping. The quick installation of a tensioning cable will help to restraighten the bottom of your fence and prevent entry/exit.

The price of straightforward repair of one section of chain wire starts from $350. Larger more complex repairs will need to be quoted individually as the prices will vary.

Our team will outline in our quote any preparation that needs to be done prior your repair commencing. For a standard repair – the only preparation is clearing the area of any obstructions.
